The EYE-CON

The EYE-CON is an event center concept designed for a small community in Baltimore City, aiming to address a specific challenge while creating a space inspired by a figure assigned to each student. My assigned figure, "The Observer," guided the design, which was based on the human eye's structure, broken down into three components: the eyelids, the eyeball, and the. The eyelids were reimagined as an open lounge for social engagement, the eyeball informed the main spaces, and the muscles represented the building's mobility and circulation for efficient movement.

Another way that the building’s design reflects the essence of "The Observer" is through its thoughtful spatial arrangement. The stage is strategically positioned to be visible from multiple vantage points within the building, including the upper floor, the circulation hallway leading to the lower level, and the café area. The EYE-CON is not just an event center; it is a dynamic space that embodies observation, connectivity, and community engagement.

The above-ground level is thoughtfully designed an open lounge area, inviting the community to engage and enjoy the freely. It incorporates several parametric sectionals, providing comfortable seating for everyday gatherings. My primary focus at this level was to address a significant community concern. Through extensive research, I found that residents often feel marginalized and disconnected from the main street. To address this challenge, I developed a funnel-like structure that facilitates a seamless and modern connection between the main street and the neighborhood, promoting a greater sense of inclusion and accessibility
